Tomas Soucek couldn’t hide his delight in now having Graham Potter as the Head Coach at West Ham.

Potter arrived only a week ago and in that time the transformation in terms of mood and belief is clearly evident, with the Hammers recording the 1st win under his reign against Fulham on Tuesday night.

Soucek was instrumental in the win, bagging a vital and well-worked goal, as well as captaining the side in the absence of Jarrod Bowen, who is close to returning from injury.

“Captaining the team to a win is a big honour for me,” Soucek told the clubs Official Website. “I appreciate it a lot, and the guys in the team all help me a lot. I’m proud of every moment I play for West Ham, and now I’ve captained the team so I’m proud of that.

“But the most important thing today is that we won three points for West Ham, and for our fans. It’s a brilliant first win for our new manager, in his first match at home.

“I think that we can play better than we did tonight in the future, and on the ball we have many things to improve, but the first thing is about fighting for each other, and we did that well.”

There is a clear lift in the mood amongst the players, who appear to be far more understanding and responsive to the instructions from the new Head Coach, with Soucek stating the team are motivated to keep the winning feeling going.

“We’ve had a few more days so we’re starting to get to know each other better,” added the Czech international.

“There’s been a lot of enthusiasm from the lads, and good mentality, and we’re all going to be massively motivated to win again on Saturday.”
