Rangers have been handed a spectacular injury boost as four players returned to training during the international break, leaving just four injured in total.

Returning to full training, give or take, are Abdallah Sima, Ross McCausland, Kieran Dowell, and Dujon Sterling, leaving just newly-injured Ridvan, Jack, Cortes and Danilo unavailable for Hibs.

It’s a big big help, and while we’re not going to pretend the four returning players are all fit and ready to go in the starting XI this weekend, they are now in training and available to feature in some way tomorrow which is immensely encouraging short to medium term.

Sima will not be rushed back into full football, McCausland’s situation is still ‘complex’ but Kieran Dowell’s rehabilitation from surgery is clearly progressing well.

Dujon Sterling? Well we’d love to see him involved again but Clement has learned from Easter Road not to rush players who just aren’t ready.

The fact these guys are training and physically fit though is a very good sign, and even further that the club only has formally four players currently out of action and entirely unavailable for Hibs is a great sign.

It’s, in fact, the best place the squad has been in a very long time, and is the first time we recall as few as four players out injured under this manager or indeed any for some while.

How much will any of them feature? We’d imagine a couple will make the bench, likely Sterling and McCausland, because everyone needs to be eased back into things. That aforementioned error of Sterling at Hibs cost the club one of our most useful players. His return is extremely welcome.

As for Ridvan, Jack, Cortes and Danilo – Jack’s prognosis isn’t clear, Ridvan we’ll have more in in another piece, and Cortes and Danilo remain out for the foreseeable.

But in the here and now, four men are back.

A welcome boost and the international break clearly helped.
