Now, speaking on social media, Luongo has thanked Wednesday fans for their “outstanding” support, with his contract set to expire at Hillsborough this summer as it stands.

“Another season finished.✅.” Lungo wrote on Instagram.

“Although it was a disappointing end, the support I have seen this season has been a career high for me! Simply outstanding.”

“Thank you 🦉.”

“Time to rest up ♥️.”

Despite Wednesday’s season ending in disappointment, it was a decent campaign for Luongo personally.

After struggling for game time in the Championship last season due to injury, making just 12 league appearances, the midfielder had a healthier 2021/22.
