AC Milan are currently at Milanello as the pre-season 2022/23 has kicked off. Many fans are present and so are the directors of the club, including the sporting director Ricky Massara who spoke to the club’s official channel.

Milan have scheduled four friendlies for this month as the Serie A season will begin earlier than usual (August 13), due to the winter World Cup. There is great enthusiasm at Milanello to get back into shape quickly, therefore.

Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, Massara shared his thoughts on this past season and the Rossoneri’s goals for the upcoming one. He made it clear that they want to go further in the Champions League this time out.

On the images on the bench after Lazio…

“We were tested by the emotions of a very beautiful match and we were aware that it could represent a key to the run-up to the Scudetto.”

On passion…

“We work to generate emotions for people and this is our goal. There is an overflowing passion that has dragged the team to do beautiful things in the last two and a half years. We have to put the good times in the drawer and start over. We also want to be more competitive in the Champions League.”

On growth…

“This path can continue because I believe that the team still has great margins. A competitive AC Milan, normality has been restored, we must remember that the history written, even by this team, requires us to think with ambition and always think more competitive in all competitions. There is a lot of enthusiasm and the desire to restart and do well.”

On the objectives…

“We have to give ourselves the goal of improving every day and facing every match with the certainty that if you want to improve, you can make very few mistakes. They are all waiting for us with a different attitude and we are aware that there will be difficulties.”

Milan were knocked out of the group stage of the UCL this past season and they also finished last. Something to improve on, in other words, and for this season they will be in pot 1 for the draw (which will benefit them a lot).
