Mason Mount misses Chelsea training with possible strong return on Saturday lined up | OneFootball

Mason Mount was not in Chelsea training today as he continues his recovery from a “lower abdomen problem” that Graham Potter told us about last week.

Mount is suspended for tomorrow night’s Champions League game, so he will be targeting a return this weekend.

While getting injured is never good for a player, this might actually be a blessing for Mount. It’s not a leg injury so shouldn’t affect him for too long, and it means he’s getting a healthy rest on the sidelines to recharge.

If he’s fit to face Leicester on Saturday we assume he will slot in for that as Graham Potter looks to rotate his squad following what could be our last midweek European game of the season.

If we start playing really well it may prove difficult for Mount to win his place back long term – but for now everyone is in with a chance of securing Graham Potter’s favour.
