Chelsea are well into the first half against Palmeiras in the Club World Cup final, and they have yet to make a breakthrough.

In fact, the well supported Brazilians have had some good chances of their own.

Thomas Tuchel’s team had generated most of its best play by using Mason Mount, who was working the lines between Romelu Lukaku and the right wing back nicely. But before the end of this first period, Mount has had to go off injured.

The midfielder wasn’t used against Al Hilal after hurting himself against Plymouth in extra time of the FA Cup tie last weekend, and it was probably a recurrence of that issue.

Christian Pulisic is his replacement, and he should be able to cause some trouble with his dribbling, but really Chelsea fans will be looking ahead to the next round of the Champions League and hoping that Mount’s issues are very minor indeed.
