Chelsea are deep into extra time now, and they’ve just taken off Mason Mount for Saul.
Mount didn’t have a great game, and taking him off wouldn’t have been that much of a surprise at this stage in any case, but there is some cause for concern.
The midfielder was down on his haunches grimacing just before he was substituted, looking like he had tweaked something while hitting a long shot just before.
Once off the pitch, he headed straight down the tunnel, the sure sign of a player with an injury. Understandably there is a lot of concern among fans that he’s hurt himself, which would be particularly frustrating given it happened in an extra time period we never would have had to play through if we had just taken our chances in the first 90.
If he’s now going to miss Club World Cup games, this afternoon has been a total disaster.
