The injury worries at Manchester United seem to have taken an even worse turn, if that was even possible.

Ahead of their biggest game of the season in the FA Cup semi-final, United are likely to be without any senior centre-backs and some added injuries.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat join Willy Kambwala on the medical table ahead of the crucial fixture.

Erik ten Hag said in his press conference yesterday that Harry Maguire had a small issue during the game vs Bournemouth.

Consequently, United have called up academy youngster Louis Jackson to the first-team squad as they somehow try to make up the defensive numbers for the game.

Willy Kambwala, with a grand total of three senior starts, is missing which means Maguire is the only fit centre-back while the other spot might have to be deputised by Casemiro.

On the optimistic side, however, this is a good opportunity for Jackson to travel with the team and take in the atmosphere of the FA Cup at Wembley.

Jackson is just 18 and was in the news when he was drafted into the U18s team at the last minute for the FA Youth Cup final in 2023.

The youngster performed admirably and gained many plaudits for his calm and composed display literally just coming from school.

Jackson joins Jack Kingdon as the centre-back to play a part with the first-team, training or games, as the defensive injury crisis threatens to derail United’s season completely.

On the senior front, Mount’s absence as well as Amrabat’s issue continue a long-running frustrating theme about both players.

Mount hasn’t kicked on at all and was just easing his way back from injury when this issue struck while Amrabat’s loan stay has been a bonafide nightmare.

Nightmare is also what the team will want to avoid on the pitch tomorrow and with a battered squad, that just became more difficult.
