Former Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood continues to impress in France with Olympique de Marseille.
The 23 year old had not played for the Red Devils since January 2022 when he was charged with domestic abuse but his case was eventually dropped by Greater Manchester Police when a key witness withdrew.
He went on loan to Getafe in 2023 when it was decided he would not represent United again and there was much discussion as to what Ineos would do with him when they took the reins of the club officially earlier this year.
Like their predecessors, they decided that the Englishman had no future at the club and he was finally sold to Marseille in France last summer.
Greenwood started off at a frantic pace, scoring goals for fun in August and wore the top scorer badge which recognises the player who scored the most goals in the previous game week in the middle of September.
After a quieter period where he went four games without a goal or an assist, the United academy product returned with a bang this weekend, grabbing a goal and an assist in a 5-0 win away to Montpellier.
He was fantastic, being awarded with a score of 9 on Sofascore. He made four key passes and created three big chances alongside his goal and assist.
His strike was reminiscent of when he broke onto the scene at Old Trafford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, when he beat a couple of defenders with stepovers and fired a lethal effort into the bottom corner of the net with his supposed weaker right foot.
It now means that in eight Ligue 1 games, he has scored six goals and provided two assists with only Paris Saint Germain’s Bradley Barcola having scored more this season.
The 23 year old’s form has led to him being once again linked to some of the biggest clubs in Europe. FC Barcelona and PSG have been credited with an interest in him.
Greenwood also hopes that his form has not gone unnoticed by new England manager Thomas Tuchel as it has been reported that the former United striker would welcome a return to the national side setup with the German at the helm.
If Tuchel or the England team show little interest in calling him up, he will reportedly switch allegiance to Jamaica, where former United assistant manager Steve McClaren is now head coach.
