Jose Bordalas’ men took the lead early into the second half and looked set to clinch all three points but Mallorca grabbed two goals in the dying embers of the game to turn the match on its head.

Despite the defeat, Greenwood performed well and showed again why he’s on the radar of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The Carrington academy graduate has now taken to Instagram and confirmed that it was his last game for the Spanish outfit.

He posted a picture of himself in Getafe colours alongside the message, “Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season.”

“Thank you for making me feel welcomed and one of your own.”

“I enjoyed every second, alongside my teammates and club.”

He added, “A bitter sweet ending, but it was a pleasure to play for you, I wish you all the best.”

The 22-year-old made 33 La Liga appearances for Getafe. In that period, he managed eight goals and six assists. Across all competitions, he notched 10 goals in 36 matches.

It has been a very successful loan spell for the forward considering the amount of football he had missed due to his legal troubles.

All eyes are now on United and the top brass, to see what decision they make regarding Greenwood’s future.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe previously opened the door to the Englishman possibly returning to Old Trafford and playing for United once again. As mentioned, Greenwood is also attracting plenty of interest, with the likes of Juventus and Atletico Madrid understood to be keen on securing his services and offering him his next permanent home.
