Greenwood, who has scored three goals in four Premier League appearances this season, is the only Manchester United player still in the running to win the award, as per the official Manchester United website.
Earlier this summer, Amad Diallo joined Greenwood in being nominated for the award but as the list of nominees begins to shrink, the young Ivorian has dropped out of the running. Wayne Rooney, Anderson, Paul Pogba, and Anthony Martial have all won the award in the past.
After struggling for large parts of last season, Greenwood re-emerged as United’s hottest property towards the end of last season, and despite pulling out of England’s Euro 2020 squad earlier this summer, he has started the new campaign in inspired form.
The latest batch of marquee signings at the club does not seem to have fazed Greenwood but instead revitalised him as he continues to be, undoubtedly, the first-choice option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the right side of attack.
