England goalkeeper Mary Earps has seemingly aimed a dig at her former club Manchester United by claiming she can’t wait to get started at a “top team”.

A few weeks ago, Earps left United as a free agent to join Paris Saint-Germain.

She spent five years at United and as her deal neared expiration, she was locked in talks with the club over fresh terms but those negotiations ultimately proved unproductive.

An agreement could not be found and she elected to seal a switch to PSG.

Earps helped Marc Skinner’s side to win the Women’s FA Cup last season, despite a disappointing Women’s Super League campaign that saw them finish a measly fifth.

The 31-year-old spoke to The Daily Mail and opened up on her move to PSG and her preparations ahead of the new season.

In her interview, Earps seemed to take a swipe at United, as she insisted that she can’t wait to get started at a “top team” that would allow her to challenge for silverware and top honours.

The shot-stopper told the newspaper, “I’m moving to Paris in a matter of days now.”

“There’s a lot to do in such a short space of time, but I am really looking forward to the new journey and this new chapter. I’m most excited to move to Paris for the football.”

“I cannot wait to play for a top team and to be in a position to compete and win trophies over the next few years. That’s where I really want to be – fighting at the top. I am really looking forward to that.”

She added, “Generally, off the pitch I’ve heard incredible things about the city and I can’t wait to explore it. One thing about me is I love languages, so I am doing all I can to become fluent as quickly as possible. But it will be a challenge I reckon.”

“I was out there the other week to sign for them and the city was crazy.”

While Marc Skinner’s side endured a mass exodus of players, they’ve also confirmed some incoming.

So far, the Reds have brought in Elisabeth Terland from Brighton and Dominique Janssen from Wolfsburg. Both have been acquired as free agents.

The club also confirmed the permanent signing of Melvine Malard.
