Sheffield Wednesday’s Marvin Johnson has said he would love to remain at the club beyond the end of the season.
The 31-year-old’s contract is one of several at Hillsborough to expire next summer, and having been a key player for the Owls in League One this season, it could be assumed that talks over a new deal would already have been underway.
Despite two goals and three assists in 21 outings, though, Johnson reveals that is not the case, insisting he is just focusing on his football and the club’s promotion push for now.
“Nah, my head is down focusing on the games, focusing on the points, and obviously focusing on promotion – which is the goal that we all want.” Johnson told The Star when quizzed on whether there had been any contract talks.
“That’s the most important thing right now.”
Johnson added: “Definitely,” when asked if he would like to stay at Hillsborough beyond the season.

“I love it here.
I’m enjoying my football, I enjoy the boys and the staff, and the fanbase is unbelievable.”
Johnson and Sheffield Wednesday next face Port Vale in League One action this evening.
This looks like a contract situation that will go on until the summer.
Johnson is rightly focusing on his football, and Sheffield Wednesday have plenty of players to deal with in terms of contract renewals.
It is perhaps surprising that a one year extension of some sort has not been explored just yet, though.
Perhaps the club are seeking a better indication of which division they will be in next season before making any final decisions on the future of their current squad.
