Marvin Ducksch to stay at Werder Bremen | OneFootball

Bild reports that Werder Bremen striker Marvin Ducksch is set to stay at the club and extend his contract.

Ducksch’s current contract at Bremen expires in 2024, but the 29-year-old is now expected to extend his contract until 2026. It was previously reported that Ducksch had a release clause in his contract worth €7.5m but despite interest from Union Berlin, Saudi Arabia and Borussia Dortmund, the clause expired.

The 29-year-old was key in Bremen earning promotion to the Bundesliga, and after a slow start back in the first division, Ducksch ended the season with 12 goals and seven assists as Bremen finished a comfortable 13th.

Bremen will now turn their focus to trying to keep Niclas Füllkrug, the 30-year-old was the Bundesliga top scorer and has attracted interest from bigger Bundesliga clubs as well as from abroad. Losing their main striker will be a big blow for Bremen especially as they have completed the signing of Naby Keïta on a free transfer.

If Füllkrug is to leave then Dawid Kownacki, who joined from Fortuna Düsseldorf on a free transfer, will likely be the 30-year-old’s replacement.
