Fiorentina are trying to negotiate a discount on the Arthur Melo deal with Juventus, which could also see Argentina international Lucas Martinez-Quarta go to Turin.
The midfielder arrived last summer on loan with an option to buy set at €20m, payable in three instalments.
While at first it seemed as if a permanent transfer would be unlikely, there are now suggestions the clubs are discussing ways to make it more affordable for the Viola.
They can also count on the fact that although it has definitely been an improvement, Arthur is still suffering from recurring fitness problems that stalled his career ever since Barcelona.
According to Tuttosport, the key to the deal could be in Martinez-Quarta, who is only under contract with Fiorentina until June 2025 and does not seem prepared to negotiate a renewal.
The central defender has been linked with Juventus and is a potential reinforcement to replace Alex Sandro in Max Allegri’s side.
Multiple sources had already suggested that Juve were trying to snap up Giacomo Bonaventura in the January transfer window, but both the player and Fiorentina slammed the door shut.
