Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard wasn’t involved for the Gunners as they took on Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with the midfielder still working on a comeback from an ankle injury he suffered in early September.
The 25-year-old has already missed 10 games through injury, and he could be set to miss even more in the coming weeks.
But Arsenal will hope that’s not the case, with four consecutive away matches coming up.
Playing in the League Cup against Preston North End won’t be a priority, but the following games against Newcastle United, Inter Milan, and Chelsea are all big matches.

On that note, Odegaard himself suggested in his Liverpool programme notes that he believes he’s ‘close’ to a comeback now.
“I’ve been out for a few weeks now, and have been working hard to get back as soon as possible,” Odegaard wrote.
“As I said in my notes on Tuesday, I feel like it’s close now, but although I haven’t been involved in the games lately, I feel I’ve still been able to use that time pretty well too.
“Hopefully I can come out of this period fresher and stronger and ready for the rest of the season. That’s the aim now, look at the positives and use this time in a good way. When I’m back I’m going to be feeling pretty good, I’m sure.”

Those four upcoming away games are Arsenal’s only remaining matches before the international break, and Norway boss Stale Solbakken has already suggested he’s hoping to use the player for those internationals.
With any luck, Odegaard will be back in contention in a game or two and then able to build up his match sharpness on international duty.
