Star Newcastle man Martin Dúbravka has admitted that he is on the brink of signing a new deal at the club.

The Slovakian’s current deal runs for another three years but the club are keen to extend him on new terms given the interest in his signature.

Paris Saint-Germain showed serious intent to sign Dúbravka before ultimately opting for Keylor Navas.

But he is happy to stay put at St James’ Park and is close to committing to doing so.

“I’m happy here and since I’ve came here, people have treated me really well,” he said, quoted by the Chronicle.

“I feel at home here and I’m glad people think I can stay here for the long-term.

“Hopefully we can keep our players and leaders in the squad and can build on what we are doing.

“We’re still in talks [about a new deal] and we’re close. That’s what I can say.

“If I can stay here longer, then I’ll be happy.”

Dúbravka arrived on Tyneside in 2018 from Sparta Prague after initially impressing on loan.
