Martin Ødegaard has decided to join Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid, according to AS.

Arsenal joined the race with Real Sociedad to sign the Norwegian this week. Despite the Basque club having the 22-year-old on loan last season, he has reportedly opted to join the Gunners, having failed to get the playing time he was promised under Zinedine Zidane.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the loan deal could be completed today. Arsenal and Madrid are currently in talks to reach an agreement. The Spanish champions want a loan deal until June and head coach Mikel Arteta has spoken directly to the player.

If the deal closes, it will be a 6-month loan without the option to buy. Real Madrid prefer for the playmaker to play abroad and not for a rival in LaLiga.
