While the Gunners remain goal-difference behind leaders Chelsea, Spurs ended a run of league losses to go level on points with fifth-placed Liverpool.

Spurs restricted the Gunners to just a couple of shots on goal in the first half, although Caitlin Foord did strike the far post with an angled effort.

Frida Maanum went close late in the half, Spurs keeper Barbora Votikova pushing her shot round the post.

Arsenal continued to be on top after the interval  but found themselves behind by the hour mark, Celin Bizet dragging the ball across the box for Martha Thomas to run onto and turn past a wrong-footed Manuela Zinsberger.

Spurs were still in front when 11 minutes stoppage-time were announced, Ashleigh Neville intervened as Beth Mead got through and was about to pull the trigger.

The resulting corner was cleared and with Zinsberger joining the attack, Rosella Ayane might have doubled the lead with a last effort of the match but was closed down.
