Foot Mercato are reporting that Olympique de Marseille remain optimistic of offloading Gerson (25), and hope to reinvest the funds to sign SCO Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi (22).

Gerson, who has found himself cast aside at the Orange Vélodrome since the arrival of Igor Tudor at the start of the season, favours a return to former side Flamengo. According to Foot Mercato, the Brazilian side are confident of completing a deal before the end of the transfer window. There is a renewed optimism over a deal in the past days after the transfer had looked to have collapsed.

Marseille are looking to maximise the fee, with the view to reinvesting on Ounahi. Speaking at the match between Angers and Ajaccio, the president of the former, Saïd Chabane, said that two French clubs had been in contact over the player, one of which is believed to be Marseille. However, Les Phocéens are not willing to spend the €25m demanded by Angers. Pablo Longoria is therefore hoping to negotiate a better deal.
