According to Foot Mercato, Olympique de Marseille have threatened to leave Pape Gueye (25) on the sidelines until the end of the season, should he refuse to leave the club this month.

Gueye’s time at Marseille is coming to an end, be it this month or in the summer. The midfielder, who is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Senegal, has refused two contract extension offers, with his contract expiring at the end of the season. OM want to receive a fee for the player and are therefore becoming increasingly desperate to sell the player before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Burnley are interested in buying Gueye, according to Foot Mercato, but the player himself is reportedly unkeen to leave Marseille this month, with the Ligue 1 club suspicious that the midfielder has already signed a pre-contract agreement with another club.

In a bid to convince Gueye to move on before Thursday’s deadline, Marseille have threatened to leave him out of the squad until the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.
