Marseille have decided to sell France international midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi (24), and have identified Juventus loanee Denis Zakaria (26) as his ideal replacement, according to a report from Foot Mercato. Guendouzi is expected to attract interest from several Premier League outfits – as reported by L’Équipe – with Marseille hoping to cash in, at least, a €20m transfer fee for the player, who is tied to OM until 2025.
To replace the departing Guendouzi, Marseille have reportedly put Zakaria at the top of their shortlist. The Switzerland international is currently playing for Chelsea on loan from the Bianconeri. However, the 26-year-old versatile midfielder is short of playing time with the West London outfit. Zakaria joined Chelsea on a loan with an option to buy, but the Premier League’s 11th-placed side are not expected to trigger the purchase option, with a summer clearout on the cards.
The outlet reports that Juventus and Marseille have a good relationship. OM president Pablo Longoria is a former Head of Recruitment at Juventus. Foot Mercato also add that an unnamed experienced international midfielder is also on Les Phocéens‘ radar.
