Foot Mercato are reporting that Olympique de Marseille have reached an agreement with FC Lorient to sign Nigerian striker Terem Moffi (23).

However, this deal is far from done, and there are many variables and moving pieces in what is turning into an increasingly complicated transfer. OGC Nice and West Ham United have also been in the race to sign Moffi, and have submitted bids for the forward, who has impressed for Les Merlus in the first part of the Ligue 1 season.

However, none of those bids, including three from Les Aiglons, have been accepted. Marseille entered into the bidding process late, but have seemingly trumped the competition by including Bamba Dieng (22) in a player plus cash deal.

Dieng almost left Les Phocéens in the summer before failing a medical at Nice and returning to Marseille. He is now being used as a make way in the deal to bring Moffi to the Vélodrome. However, Moffi, who reportedly favours a move to Nice, is yet to give the go-ahead for the deal, unlike his agent, who has already reached an agreement with Marseille.

This deal is complicated further by Dieng’s move to Les Merlus. Everton, who now look set to miss out on Olympique Lyonnais striker Moussa Dembélé (26) following the departure of Frank Lampard, have entered into the fray. The Senegalese forward is now a target for the Merseyside club, and the player himself is tempted by the idea of playing in the Premier League.
