Marseille president Pablo Longoria calls for unity in French football in talks at FT summit in London | OneFootball

One day after being handed a 15-game suspension following claims of “corruption” in Ligue 1, claims that he later rowed back on, expressing regret for the use of the term, Olympique de Marseille president Pablo Longoria spoke at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit, making calls for unity.

Marseille have sought to draw a line under the comments made by President Longoria, which came in the wake of last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to AJ Auxerre. The day after receiving the sanction, Longoria travelled to London to participate in a panel of CEOs of European clubs. Shakhtar Donetsk’s Sergei Palkin, Nottingham Forest’s Lina Souloukou, and Feyenoord’s Dennis te Kloese also spoke at the event.

Longoria evoked the difficulties facing French football currently and reiterated the need for all stakeholders to unite in order to find collective solutions and avoid the pursuit of individual interests. Also present at the Financial Times event, held annually, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, Premier League CEO Richard Masters, and La Liga President Javier Tebas also spoke.
