In the run-up to the UEFA Europa League second leg against Villarreal, Olympique de Marseille manager Jean-Louis Gasset said that the La Liga had to play the “perfect match”, adding that they had “no room for error”, whilst in order for Marseille to squander their first-leg advantage, Les Phocéens would have to have a “catastrophic” match.
Could we therefore see significant turnover? Gasset has kept his cards close to his chest, stating that he will field the “freshest” side against Villarreal on Thursday evening. It is expected that the talismanic figure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, one of the most in-form strikers in Europe, will be rested. Faris Moumbagna would take his place up-front.
Elsewhere, OM will be without Samuel Gigot, Michael Murillo, Bilal Nadir and Valentin Rongier due to injuries, whilst Ulisses Garcia, Pape Gueye and Jean Onana are ineligible.
