Marseille will lock horns with Rennes at Roazhon Park on Sunday night with a spot in the Coupe de France’s Round of 16 at stake. Gennaro Gattuso is expected to field a depleted team given Les Phocéens are the most heavily AFCON-affected side in Ligue 1 with Ismaïla Sarr, Iliman Ndiaye, Chancel Mbemba, Pape Gueye Azzedine Ounahi and Amine Harit all called up to the tournament.

Marseille are expected to step up against Rennes. Last week, they conceded a frustrating last-minute home draw against BlueCo-owned Strasbourg. The week before, they had to dig deep to fend off fifth-tier side Thionville in the previous Coupe de France round. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the only goal of that game.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal centre-forward is set to start alongside Portuguese striker Vitinha, for whom Marseille are willing to listen to offers only a year after splashing a club-record €32m to acquire his services. Cameroon international defensive midfielder Jean Onana is expected to get his first start for Marseille.
