Marseille not interested in pursuing Wilfried Zaha deal

Marseille reportedly have no intention of pursuing a deal for Crystal Palace winger and Ivory Coast international Wilfried Zaha (30), according to a report from La Provence. Last month, reports emerged that Zaha’s entourage had taken the initiative to enter into talks with Les Phocéens. The winger will be out of contract next June, and it is expected that a handful of European clubs will try to attract Zaha.

L’Équipe reported yesterday that Marseille have put several of their potential transfers on stand-by, considering the uncertainty surrounding their qualification for the Champions League. Les Phocéens are set to finish third, which will imply that Igor Tudor’s men will have to go through two rounds of qualification to reach the group stage. However, La Provence have confirmed that Zaha’s name was indeed discussed among the Marseille higher-ups, but the club is “not at all interested” in bringing the 30-year-old to the Vélodrome. The outlet adds that soon-to-be free agent Lyon striker Moussa Dembélé (26) won’t join Marseille as his wage demands are deemed to be exorbitant.
