Olympique Marseille midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is delighted for coach Jorge Sampaoli after qualifying for the Champions League.
Victory over Strasbourg saw OM finish the seas runners up behind PSG.
Guendouzi, who will sign permanently for OM from Arsenal, said of Sampaoli: "He also deserves this second place obviously. If we finish 2nd, it's mainly thanks to him.
"We have progressed so much individually, we have seen all the players who have made it to the national team. He did an extraordinary job, we must say congratulations to them with his assistants.
"They worked a lot, it was not easy. Obviously we all hope that he will extend to stay with us next year because I am sure that we will continue to be better and bring back trophies here."
