Olympique de Marseille have joined a host of Ligue 1 clubs in the race to sign FC Nantes forward Matthis Abline (22), according to a report from Foot Mercato.

In his first full season at Nantes, Abline has excelled. The France youth international netted 11 goals in a struggling Canaris side that succeeded in staving off relegation. Perhaps his formative club, Stade Rennais, are now regretting their decision to release him.

Having signed him from their local rivals for just €10m last summer, Nantes are looking to make a profit on him this summer. As previously reported, Lille OSC, RC Strasbourg Alsace, RC Lens, and Lille OSC are all interested in the centre-forward. However, Marseille, who can now offer the Frenchman UEFA Champions League football, have just entered the race. Foot Mercato understands that Les Phocéens have made an enquiry, with the player seen as very compatible with Roberto De Zerbi’s style of play. Nantes are looking for at least €15m for Abline.
