There is no shortage of clubs interested in Dijon FCO’s Rayane Messi (16) with the young winger making four appearances and scoring once in the Championnat National.
According to L’Équipe, one of those teams that appear to be very interested in courting the young Messi is Olympique de Marseille, with the club seeing him as a perfect addition to their new focus on bringing in young talent with high ceilings.
However, there appears to be a major stumbling block in their progress. Marseille might be keen on making Messi an Olympian but they do not want to overspend on the U17 French international.
There is reportedly a significant difference in valuation between Dijon and Marseille. Dijon are sticking to their €4 million asking price, but this is considered excessive by Les Phocéens and many of the other teams assessing Messi.
In France, Lille OSC are also thought to be looking at a player with a heavy name to bear, although if he has a fraction of the talent that his namesake possesses, perhaps €4 million might turn out to be a bargain.
