AFC Bournemouth attacking midfielder Hamed Junior Traoré (25) has caught the attention of Olympique de Marseille, according to a report from Foot Mercato. The outlet understands that OM’s decision-makers – president Pablo Longoria and Director of Football Medhi Benatia – are interested in the Ivory Coast international. The 25-year-old has been a revelation last season in Ligue 1 after logging ten goals and two assists in 26 games for Auxerre, who signed him on loan from Bournemouth.
The versatile Traoré, who can play as an attacking midfielder or a winger, could be a welcome addition to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad, considering OM have sold Jonathan Rowe to Bologna. Furthermore, the Italian manager would reunite with Traoré after their time together in Sassuolo. On the back of his performances with the Neroverdi, Traoré signed a five-year deal with the Cherries.
Traoré is yet to make his mark with Bournemouth. Six months into his spell in Southern England, he was allowed to leave on loan to Napoli. The 25-year-old then had a successful second loan at Auxerre. Foot Mercato adds that Traoré remains a squad option for Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola, despite logging an assist in the opening Premier League matchday against Liverpool. Lyon and Monaco have also taken an interest in Traoré, but Bournemouth reportedly rejected Les Gones‘ approach.
