L’Équipe report this afternoon that Marseille have renewed their interest in Danish full-back Joakim Mæhle, having already made attempts to sign him three years ago, when the now-Atalanta man was playing at Genk.
The full-back positions are one of OM’s recruitment priorities this summer window, following the departures of all of Sead Kolašinac, Issa Kaboré and Nuno Tavares, as well as the switch to a back four in the wake of Marcelino’s arrival as manager. The club has already confirmed the signing of Renan Lodi from Atlético Madrid.
The Danish international, who usually operates on the right-hand side of the defence, has been approved as a prospective signing by the entire Marseille management. He is currently under contract with the Serie A club until 2025, and while Marseille would prefer an initial loan deal, La Dea would prefer to let the 26-year-old leave on a permanent transfer. The full-back managed three goals and three assists last season in Italy.
