Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is set to join Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille in the coming days, according to L’Equipe

Hojbjerg’s future at Spurs has been uncertain due to his struggle for playing time, but he could be on his way to the Ligue 1.

Marseille have opened talks with Tottenham regarding a loan deal for Hojbjerg, with a mandatory purchase option included for around €15 million.

Known for his tireless work ethic and defensive solidity, the Dane has been a mainstay for Spurs since joining from Southampton in 2020.

This move would allow Hojbjerg to reignite his career in Ligue 1 after falling down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou.

With Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall all fighting for a place in central midfield, the former Bayern Munich star is surplus to requirements.

The interest in Hojbjerg appears to have the backing of new Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi.

The Italian tactician is familiar with the Premier League from managing Brighton & Hove Albion and has followed Hojbjerg’s performances.

Hojbjerg could be set to pen a four-year contract with the French club, with negotiations expected to conclude in the coming days.
