According to a report from La Provence, an agreement was reached with Adrien Rabiot (30) when he first arrived at Olympique de Marseille that would allow him to leave the club for free this summer. Marseille will reportedly attempt to convince him to ignore the advances of Europe’s elite clubs, who are still interested in his services and can offer him a far higher wage.
Marseille, at least, can offer Champions League football for next season after they secured their place in the competition in Ligue 1’s penultimate gameweek with a 3-1 victory over Le Havre AC. However, the French international was noncommittal when asked about his future at the club.
He told reporters after Marseille’s 4-2 win over Stade Rennais on the final day of the campaign, “The Champions League at the Vélodrome? It’s going to be great. But, I personally do not want to get ahead of myself in terms of what is going to happen next season. We’ll have a moment to sit with the president, with Medhi (Benatia), to discuss all this.”
