Sports Zone are reporting that Olympique de Marseille are considering a move for former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Julen Lopetegui.

Marcelino left Marseille on Wednesday. His departure came after just seven games with the club and was the result of insults and threats, levelled not only at the Spanish manager but also OM’s hierarchy. President Pablo Longoria also stepped back from his role on a temporary basis while he considered his future. Longoria held a press conference on Friday, confirming that he would remain in the role.

As a result, his focus has now turned towards naming Marcelino’s successor. As reported by Foot Mercato, former Italy manager Roberto Donadoni has been offered to Les Phocéens, however, according to Sports Zone, Longoria will try to tempt Lopetegui to the Vélodrome. The Spaniard has not managed since leaving Wolves before the start of the Premier League season. Sports Zone report that Marseille may find it difficult to recruit Lopetegui, but the club are willing to try.
