Marseille considering Chelsea’s Benoît Badiashile in centre-back pursuit | OneFootball

Olympique de Marseille have made signing a centre-back a priority this summer after a season where their defence was left exposed on far too many occasions.

The pursuit has seen the club linked with several high-profile names, including Aymeric Laporte, Facundo Medina, and Nayef Aguerd. However, L’Équipe explains that another option could be to try and secure Chelsea centre-back Benoît Badiashile (24).

Marseille are reportedly interested in the former AS Monaco man, who could see Marseille as an exit from an unfavourable situation. Badiashile has struggled for game time since making the move from Ligue 1 to the Premier League.

Competition for places increasing at Chelsea

This season, the France international made only 19 appearances across all competitions, and it looks as if next year he will have even fewer opportunities with Chelsea strengthening significantly in defence during the January window with the acquisitions of Aarón Anselmino and Renato Viega.
