Olympique de Marseille are close to completing the signing of Feyenoord winger Igor Paixão in what would be the most expensive transfer in the club’s history, according to a report from Foot Mercato.

Talks between the two clubs have accelerated this week, with a total agreement now within reach. While some final details still need ironing out, the broad framework of the deal is in place. The Brazilian winger is expected to join OM for a fee of €35m including bonuses, surpassing the €32m paid to Braga for Vitinha in January 2023.

Paixão, 25, has already agreed personal terms on a contract running until 2030. The former Coritiba player has been a standout performer in the Eredivisie since joining Feyenoord in 2022 and was a key figure in their 2022-23 title-winning campaign.

The move is a major coup for OM boss Roberto De Zerbi, who has pushed hard to add attacking reinforcements this summer. Marseille have already secured the signings of Angel Gomes, CJ Egan-Riley, and Facundo Medina (€22m), and are expected to complete the return of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a free transfer.GFFN | George Boxall
