Marseille are close to an agreement in principle to sign Dutch international defensive midfielder Riechedly Bazoer (25), who is a free agent after the expiry of his contract at Vitesse Arnhem, according to sources contacted by Get French Football News.
The former Porto and Wolfsburg midfielder made 26 appearances for Vitesse in the Eredivisie last season, but didn’t renew his contract. Fabrizio Romano had previously reported that the club were in talks to sign Bazoer. According to GFFN sources, an agreement in principle between player and club is now close.
However, the final decision on the transfer will be left to new manager Igor Tudor, and the Croat will have his say in the coming days. Ajax academy graduate Bazoer managed a goal and three assists for Vitesse Arnhem last season and garnered interest from Ligue 1 rivals Lille and Lyon before Marseille seized the upper hand in negotiations.
