According to L’Équipe, Olympique de Marseille are accelerating to try and sign Eddie Nketiah (26) from Arsenal. An opening proposal has been sent by Les Olympiens to the Gunners.

OM have already reached an agreement with the player on personal terms and it now appears that an agreement between the Premier League club and Ligue 1 club might also be close. Nketiah wants to join Marseille and is excited by the prospect of potentially playing under the newly appointed Roberto De Zerbi. Reports of a €50m asking price set by the North London club are wide of the mark, L’Équipe understands.

Marseille’s initial offer for the English striker is a paying loan which would then include a mandatory purchase option at the end of the deal worth €20m. Arsenal are yet to respond to Les Phocéens’ offer but is not thought to be astronomically far away from their valuation of the attacker.

Potential Premier League Competition

L’Équipe reports that the public knowledge of Marseille’s interest in Nketiah is attracting the interest of Premier League clubs in the player. OM are trying to navigate a move skillfully to try and avoid increased competition for the Arsenal forward’s signature.
