Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos (29) has been included in a matchday squad for the first time since mid-February. The Brazilian has sufficiently recovered from an ankle injury to be included in the squad to face Stade Rennais in the Coupe de France on Wednesday evening.
Marquinhos suffered an achilles tendon injury against FC Nantes in mid-February and has not featured since. The initial diagnosis was relatively positive for the centre-back, however, it has taken him time to return to full fitness. He has now been included in the squad to face Rennes, although manager Luís Enrique was non-committal on the Brazilian’s chances of starting the fixture.
“I don’t take any risks with any players, even if it is tempting to have our captain starting,” said the Spaniard in Tuesday’s press conference. Nuno Mendes (21) has also returned to the matchday squad after missing Sunday’s Le Classique victory over Olympique de Marseille with muscular fatigue. Lucas Beraldo is suspended for the tie against Rennes, whilst Bradley Barcola and Presnel Kimpembe are also out.
