Marouane ​Fellaini was left flawed by Everton position after making record move | OneFootball

Former Everton and Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini had no idea where Everton stood in the Premier League table when he signed for the club.

That is the recollection of a Belgian journalist, Filip Joos, who opened up about Fellaini's move to the Toffees in an interview.

David Moyes swooped for Fellaini in the summer of 2008 for a then club record fee of £15 million.

He became so pivotal to the team that Moyes took him to Manchester United in 2013 when he left to replace Sir Alex Ferguson.

Joos told MIDMID Podcast, via SportWitness: "I remember meeting Marouane Fellaini in 2008 at Zaventem airport.

"He had just signed his contract with Everton FC. The English had paid twenty million euros for him to Standard.

"I added that it (luck) would be necessary. Everton was only in 16th place in the Premier League at the time.

"Fellaini looked at me with wide eyes and asked me if I was serious.

"He had just signed a contract with a new club but hadn't looked at the standings.

"The numbers may have spoken for themselves."
