Omar Marmoush has been voted the Etihad Player of the Month for March.

It’s a maiden Etihad Player of the Month prize for the Egyptian who has made a superb start to life at City after joining us from Eintracht Frankfurt in January.

After an eye-catching hat-trick against Newcastle United in February, Marmoush has continued to go strength to strength for Pep Guardiola's side.

And a stellar series of displays across March saw Marmoush fend off stiff competition from Nico O’Reilly and Erling Haaland to take the prize.

The Egyptian forward has been used as the focal point at the top of the pitch as well as operating in the space behind, looking equally adept in both roles.

His standout moment in March came when he thumped a brilliant strike from distance against Brighton that left goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen with no chance.

That superb effort also saw him claim the Nissan Goal of the Month award for March.

Then, after coming on as a second-half substitute at Bournemouth, Marmoush scored the decisive goal that secured a 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final victory to earn City a seventh successive semi-final, where we will play Nottingham Forest.

Coming just over two months into his City career, it’s likely that this will only be the first of many such plaudits for the 26-year-old.

Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Omar and thank all the fans for voting.
