Queens Park Rangers are set to assess the fitness of Stefan Johansen ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Swansea City.

The Norwegian missed last weekend’s victory over Coventry City, but is in contention for a return at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium tomorrow evening.

Boss Mark Warburton is hopeful he will be in line to at least make the substitutes bench against the Welsh outfit.

Victory over the Swans on Tuesday means the side would move into second place in the Championship table.

Should Johansen not make the game, then it is likely that Luke Amos would deputise on his behalf after an impressive 35 minutes on Saturday afternoon.

Moses Odubajo did return to fitness in time for the victory over Coventry last weekend and will be pushing to start this midweek game against the side 17th in the table.

“We are going to check Stefan this morning to see if he’s fit. He had a small knock and we’ll assess him from there,” Warburton said on Monday morning,” said Warburton, via West London Sport.

“It is nice to see Moses back as he can cover left and right for us.

“We are focused on Swansea and then Reading. Then we have a bit of a break and it’s Peterborough in the FA Cup then the mayhem begins again when we have two games a week for the next three weeks.

“We have 23 guys in the squad who are all hungry to play and that’s what you want.

“We have a nice balance of younger boys and experienced heads and we are in a good place now.”

What country is QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng currently representing at the African Cup of Nations?

Senegal Cameroon Egypt Nigeria

QPR are currently fourth in the table, but the Hoops are only two points behind second and third place Bournemouth and Blackburn Rovers.

However, Tony Mowbray’s side will play before QPR take to the pitch on Tuesday evening. But if results go their way then Warburton’s side will be in the automatic promotion places going into the weekend.

The Verdict

Johansen has been an important part of the QPR side since his initial loan deal last season.

Since becoming a permanent member of the club, the Norwegian has featured in 22 of QPR’s league games this season.

Warburton will be hoping he can make a return midweek, but the club should be in no rush to bring him back as they won’t want to risk him aggravating the injury.

Odubajo coming back has been another positive for the side as it keeps growing momentum in its promotion bid.
