Mark Robins signs new contract with Coventry City after leading them to Championship play-offs | OneFootball

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has signed a new four-year deal that keeps him at the club until 2027.

The 53-year-old has guided the club into the Championship play-offs. They face Middlesbrough in the second leg of their semi-final tie this evening.

Robins took charge for his second spell at the club in March 2017 and led them to victory in the Checktrade Trophy that year.

He has taken Coventry out of League Two into the second tier, and they are in with a chance of winning promotion to the top flight.

Executive chairman and owner Doug King said (via Coventry’s official website): “The footballing success over the last six years is well documented, and we are looking forward to the second leg play-off tonight as we seek more success.

“More importantly, since taking control of the club in January, and as an outsider, I have been extremely impressed with the leadership skills and authority with which Mark operates.

“He also remains hugely ambitious both personally and for the continued resurgence of Coventry City Football Club which is critical, and I believe that the club is now in a position to support those ambitions and take our Club back to the top tier of English football.”

Robins disclosed that he is happy with the deal but reiterated that his focus is on tonight’s clash with Middlesbrough.

The winners of the tie will face Luton Town at Wembley Stadium for a place in the Premier League next season.
