Callum Hudson-Odoi just made his first Premier League start over the weekend, but West Ham captain Mark Noble insists he would have been a regular under Manuel Pellegrini.

He backed his statement using budding star Declan Rice as a measuring stick.

“You have to be special to get through and the biggest example is Callum Hudson-Odoi.

“You make your England debut before you start a game in the Premier League for Chelsea. It’s incredible. That’s what I’m saying.

“If he was at West Ham, he would have probably played the same amount of games as Declan now because he is a special player.

“But Chelsea have got so many special players that it is limiting his chances of playing football. And when you’ve got players like that, do you want to keep sending them out on loan?

“I mean, football’s about success and winning matches.”

For the record, Rice has featured in 65 first-team matches for the Hammers while Hudson-Odoi has made 24 appearances for the Blues.

The two London clubs will face off at Stamford Bridge on Monday.
