A sensational Bundesliga transfer reported on over the weekend looks to soon become a reality. Kicker reports that German striker Marius Bülter will make the switch from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to 1. FC Köln. Bülter himself is said to be keen to make the move. Hoffenheim are also happy to cash in on the 32-year-old as he enters the final year of his contract.
Hoffenheim signed Bülter away from FC Schalke 04 for €3m in July of 2023. Köln should have no difficulty spending a similar amount for the currently €2.5m-valued attacker. Hoffenheim currently find themselves overstaffed in the attacking department thanks to the signing of Köln’s Tim Lemperle and a new contract extension that will keep Fisnik Asllani firmly rooted in Sinsheim.
Bülter often found himself utilized on the left wing during his two seasons spent in Kraichgau. TSG head coach Christian Ilzer nevertheless has no need for Bülter there thanks to the success enjoyed by January 2025 signing Bazoumana Touré.
Working on the right, Touré garnered three league assists last year. Hoffenheim now have a perfect excuse to move the Ivorian back over to his natural left-hand-side. Lemperle, too, works better as a right-slant forward.
All signs point to this transfer being completed.
