Even with the current season in progress, Flamengo’s board is already moving behind the scenes, looking for reinforcements for 2021.

According to reliable journalist Venê Casagrande, Flamengo have been hot on the trail of 27-year-old Marítimo midfielder Jorge Correa, who has been a regular in the Liga NOS squad since 2018.

Furthermore, Casagrande has revealed that Correa has not only confirmed Flamengo’s interest but is also keen to defend the red and black shirt.

If that wasn’t interesting enough, the midfielder was left out of his side’s squad for their 3-1 victory over Rio Ave on Sunday – the first time the player has not featured all season long.

Correa stands out due to his versatility. The former Vélez Sarsfield product has featured in a total of eight positions since his arrival in Portugal, operating most often as a left midfielder, right midfielder, right-winger, and a number 10.

Supporters should not get too excited as talks are very much in the early stage at the moment. However, it’s believed that the Argentine’s contract expires this summer, meaning that the player can sign a pre-contract agreement with the club of his choosing in January.
