Napoli have reportedly agreed to sell Mario Rui to Sao Paulo, just as the Brazilian club also signs Ruan Tressoldi from Sassuolo.
It would seem that the Brazilian side is busy shopping in Serie A this summer, particularly for defenders.
Portuguese veteran Mario Rui was not part of the Napoli squad that lost 3-0 to Verona yesterday, because he was told to find himself a new destination.
According to Sportitalia, that will be Sao Paulo, as they agreed a sale and he accepted personal terms on a contract that will run to December 2028.
Mario Rui’s current deal with Napoli is set to expire in June 2026, so they are prepared to let him go for a minimal fee to get his contract off the books.
The 33-year-old spent most of his career in Italy, first coming to Parma in 2011, then playing for Gubbio, Spezia, Empoli, Roma and since 2017 Napoli.
Meanwhile, Sao Paulo have also signed Ruan Tressoldi from Sassuolo, on loan with an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met.
