Serie A giants Napoli want to bring the Inter and AC Milan striker back home to Italy.

That’s right. Mario Balotelli seems ready to make yet another move. The controversial Italian firebrand has been away from home for too long and the Partonopei have shown great interest in snapping the 27-year-old forward up from Nice on a free transfer this summer.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri has requested the 27-year-old as he looks to bolster his options up top.

Balotelli has scored 33 goals in 49 appearances for Nice since his arrival from Liverpool in 2016, with ten goals to his name since the start of the current Ligue 1 campaign.

His contract with the French side expires in June and the former Manchester City star has yet to agree on an extension.

“I love Naples and Neapolitans,” said Balotelli after Nice faced Napoli in the Champions League play-offs at the start of this season.

“I’m always sorry to face them as an opponent.”

“He’s happy to return to Naples,” Nice general manager Julien Fournier explained on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“He loves his daughter, and he’s happy to return.”

It is unclear whether or not Mario is interested going back to Serie A, especially after saying that: “I love [Manchester] City, the fans and the club. I’d happily go back there for free. It was the best year of my life, even if the city is a little difficult to live in.”

One thing is certain. This summer (if not sooner), Balotelli will have to make a decision that will decide the next chapter of his colourful career.
