PSG and France striker Marie-Antoinette Katoto (24) will miss the 2023 Women’s World Cup, according to AFP. It’s a massive injury blow for Hervé Renard’s Les Bleues, who will already be without Lyon forward Delphine Cascarino (26). The UNFP D1 Arkema Player of the Year is suffering from a partial anterior cruciate ligament injury. As for Katoto, the PSG forward has been sidelined since last July’s Euros where she sustained a cruciate ligament tear on her right knee.

The 24-year-old had medical exams on Tuesday morning at Clairefontaine, at the French national team’s training ground. France and PSG’s medical wings are both in agreement over the fact that Katoto is not fit to take part in the Women’s World Cup. The tournament is set to be held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20th to August 20th. Renard will announce his World Cup squad on June 6th. Les Bleues will take on Ireland on July 6th in Dublin and Australia on July 14th in Melbourne in their warm-up matches before the World Cup.
